WENDY WILLIAMS ONCE SAID BEYONCÉ SPEAKS LIKE SHE HAS A ‘FIFTH-GRADE EDUCATION’
Before she aired The Wendy Williams Show in 2008, Williams had a successful radio industry career.
Wendy Williams criticized Beyoncé’s speaking voice on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’
In February 2012, Williams called out one of Beyoncé’s mannerisms on The Wendy Williams Show. As Williams sat in her purple chair in front of her audience, the television personality discussed Beyoncé’s latest venture. At the time, Beyoncé’s fans were gearing up for her upcoming documentary, Beyoncé: Life Is But a Dream. Williams shared that she planned on watching the doc, which aired on HBO. During the discussion, Williams revealed that she would view the movie where she could clearly understand Beyoncé.

“I’m watching because, fortunately, one of the TVs in our kitchen has closed captioning. So, I’ll be able to understand what she says,” Williams told her audience. “You know Beyoncé can’t talk. Beyoncé sounds like she has a fifth-grade education. She can’t talk.”
Wendy Williams received comments from Beyoncé’s fans after saying she sounds like she has a ‘fifth-grade education’
After her taping of The Wendy Williams Show aired, Beyoncé nor her team discussed the matter further. However, Williams received several reviews for her comments on YouTube. Several of Beyoncé’s fans defended her against Williams. Others, though, shared that they didn’t think Williams’ statements were inaccurate. Some even said that Williams’ comments are why Beyoncé stopped doing public interviews.
“I hate how people are degrading Beyoncé for not being a great public speaker. Many people feel shy and can’t articulate their thoughts the right way when speaking with a stranger like an interviewer. They get nervous and forget what they’re saying. People act like they don’t get anxiety when they talk to other people worrying if they’re going to mess words up. So annoying,” one fan wrote underneath the YouTube video.
“How does Beyoncé sound like she had a 5th Grade education? If she had a 5th Grade education she wouldn’t be able to deliver speeches at any event. Anyway, I am neither a fan, not a hater of Beyoncé. My point is, don’t assume about someone when you don’t know them personally. There is a bad and good side of every individual,” another user chimed in.
“I don’t like Wendy, but she’s right,” one user admitted.
“You can thank her. Now Beyoncé doesn’t do interviews,” a fourth fan said.
Wendy Williams also criticized Beyoncé for discussing her marriage with Jay-Z in ‘Lemonade’
Although Williams shared in 2012 that she’s a fan of Beyoncé’s, the daytime host further criticized the “Drunk In Love” singer in 2016. Beyoncé released her sixth studio album, Lemonade. In the album, Beyoncé got candid about the ups and downs of her marriage to Jay-Z. Beyoncé’s song, “Sorry,” left music listeners wondering if she referred to Jay’s infidelity. Reports previously linked Jay to Rachel Roy during his marriage to Beyoncé.

Williams talked about the album during her “Hot Topics” segment of The Wendy Williams Show. She said she didn’t believe the couple had hard times, as Beyoncé portrayed. Additionally, Williams hinted that the couple paid Roy to be involved in the controversy.
“So Rachel Roy, first of all, you’re not this fighting girl,” Williams began. “Unless you’re on Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s payroll, and they pay you to mix it up for, I guess sales for the Lemonade.”
Why Wendy Williams hates using Zoom
Wendy Williams recently shared why she doesn’t include Zoom as one of her preferred communication methods amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The television personality recently sat down with Buzzfeed and chatted about her relationship with Zoom. She referred to the service as “the thing” on multiple occasions, and shared she avoids using it as much as possible. Besides her Wendy@Home episodes, she said she doesn’t have any desire to use Zoom and would rather take the precautionary measures needed to see her family and friends in-person. Although her loved ones have attempted to interact with her via Zoom, she said she prefers to opt-out of those invites.
Williams didn’t want to record any new episodes of her show from home
On Monday, Sept. 21, The Wendy Williams Show returned to the studio for its 12th season. The show’s team had to take several safety measures to ensure they remained healthy while filming the week’s episodes. The show’s new format consists of Wendy staff members acting as the show’s live audience. Additionally, celebrity guests chat with Williams via Zoom, and viewers can also chime in on Zoom for the “Ask Wendy” segment of the show.
While the new setup isn’t exactly what Williams would prefer, she said it’s much better than the idea of having to film the show from her New York City apartment. She described filming from her home as “intrusive” and said she doesn’t want to try the experience again. Back in April, she explained to Entertainment Tonight that she wasn’t sure if she ever wanted to film at home because it showed her in a more private space. After years of public radio and television, the host said she prefers for her home to be where she unwinds and isn’t focused on the demands of her career.
“I feel like everybody deserves privacy, and I give so much during my show, of myself, that the warm place that I’ve always been able to count on to be my own secret, the little place is home,” she said.
Williams has shared how quarantine affects her current social life
Throughout quarantine, Williams has often shared with her social media followers and on Wendy @ Home how much she longs for the world to return to what it once was. She said COVID-19 changed her dating life drastically. Although she sporadically showed a new man in her life, she expressed her new approach to dating back in April. While many single people decided to date online during the pandemic, Williams said she didn’t want to deal with inauthentic people at this stage in her life. When she goes out, she says that she doesn’t foresee anything physical happening with her potential love interests.
“I think people are going to go back to normal times, and I won’t,” Williams admitted. “I’m not shaking hands anymore. I’m not kissing on the first date. There will be no sex on the first date, like the old days!”
Why Wendy Williams hates Zoom
Besides the technical side of Zoom, Williams also said she hates how impersonal situations become once they’re being recorded. While many have used Zoom to restore communication with the loved ones they don’t get to see physically, Williams would rather wait out until she can see everyone she cares about in real-time again.
“I like to touch and hug and see and feel and hold,” she said. “I’m not of the generation that enjoys texting for emotions — breaking up over text — you know what I’m saying. So for me, it’s weird, but the people at my show will make it work.”
Wendy Williams Thinks a Nene Leakes Spinoff Would Be ‘Boring’
Wendy Williams and Nene Leakes are allegedly friends. However, judging from Williams’ interview on Watch What Happens Live, viewers would not think so. The talk show host was asked about Leakes leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta and might have been too honest. Williams said that Leakes shouldn’t get a spinoff show as it would be “boring.”
Why does Wendy Williams not think Nene Leakes should get a spinoff?
One of the things that Leakes had been fighting for as she negotiated her return to RHOA, was a spinoff series. Leakes had already expressed how some of the other Housewives stars got their own shows, despite being problematic. The Glee alum highlighted a double standard at Bravo and alluded to racial inequalities at the cable network.
After Leakes announced she was not returning to RHOA Season 13, Williams was a guest on Bravo’s late-night show. Andy Cohen asked for a reaction to the news as Leakes and Williams are close friends. You would think that as a friend Williams would support Leakes in getting her own show, but she went the opposite way.
“What are they going to do? Is it going to be like Greg and Nene, you’re going to give them another reality show? That’s boring,” Williams said. “How about Nene being a grandmother? That’s boring! Nene and her own kids? That’s boring! Nene trying to figure out Hollywood? That’s boring!”
Williams didn’t think that Leakes could headline her own show as she doesn’t have much going on. However, she did say that she didn’t think Leakes was completely done with RHOA.
“I believe that this is not a truth, Nene has quit the show several times and you’ll have her back,” Williams suggested. “And Nene likes attention, dramatic attention. I don’t know what she’s going to be doing for money, I’m not trying to count coins.”
Nene Leakes unleashes fury
After WWHL aired, Leakes had a whole lot to say on Twitter. The Fashion Police alum was not happy that her name was brought up on the show and said they only did it for ratings.
“She on cocaine so they should stop using her to talk,” Leakes said in a second tweet seemingly talking about Williams. “They both need my help with their poor ratings.”
Leakes was not playing around when she came for Williams and Cohen for talking about her. One of her last tweets even mentioned starting a lawsuit so they would stop talking about her.
“They gone leave my name outta these shows,” she tweeted. “Send me your best discrimination attorneys info to booknene@gmail.com. IT’S WAR.”
In the WWHL: After Show, Williams addressed allegations Leakes was only using her for clout.
“A lot of people have said that Nene is using me to… I don’t know for social media or whatever Nene would use somebody for,” she said on WWHL. “I don’t listen to that, I know who Linnethia is and it’s something deep in the heart.”
Williams did not address the Twitter tirade on her TV show on Monday, September 28. The talk show host did say she made an appearance on WWHL but did not mention what Leakes said on social media.
